Interview with Kaneisha King, Winner of the 2010 Context-Sac High Travel Scholarhip

Following last week’s interview with Kathleen Snook, we met with Kaneisha King and asked her the same questions. Kaneisha was the winner of the scholarship with Kathleen. They both traveled to Paris, Florence and Paris in the Spring of 2010.

Five years ago the Context Foundation partnered with Sac High in Sacramento to develop a travel scholarship. The program has been incredibly successful, bringing high-achieving students to Europe and offering them the possibility to learn and experience travel with Context scholars. To celebrate the 5th anniversary of our program, we have decided to interview the previous winners and see what they are up to!

What made you decide to apply for the Context -Sac High scholarship?

I decided to apply for the Context Travel Trip because the location sparked my interest. I have always been interested in traveling to Italy, and I was willing to give my all for the opportunity to travel free of charge. It sounded too good to be true, but I gave it a shot anyway.

Looking back at the trip, is there something you would have done differently, something you wish you had known before going?

I do not wish to change anything about the trip. However, I wish I would have known how much walking we were going to be doing because my feet really got a beating! Other than that I had a blast and I cannot wait until my return to Italy and Paris.
After 2 years from the trip, how do you think the trip has influenced you in your choices?
The trip has influenced my choices tremendously, I have gained an interest to travel abroad and I plan to continue filling my passport until the last page. I plan to travel to Costa Rica this summer and learn Spanish. Without this trip I would not have gained this interest to travel abroad.

Thank you Kaneisha!
